Horizontal grain dryer advantages
Horizontal grain dryers offer a number of advantages to its customers:
1) The low height allows to minimize total capital investments required for construction of grain drying plant. It does not require high bucket elevators. Loading can be done with low bucket elevators or even using mobile auger conveyors.
2) While majority of mixed-flow and cross-flow grain dryers are equipped with axial fans, horizontal grain dryers have centrifugal fans. Centrifugal fans have stronger abilities to withstand high pressure drops. This helps to minimize losses of air flow in case of operation with solid fuel heat generators.
3) Horizontal grain dryers are very convenient in operation. The grain can physically be observed during drying process. You can see and even touch the grain, which is being dryed, through exhaust air openings.
4) During first loading process, the grain does not fall from very high height. It goes directlt into the intake hopper, from where it is slowly and evenly distributed over the drying bed. Therefore grain is not damaged.
5) Apart from other cross-flow grain dryers, Alvan Blanch grain dryers are equipped with an effective heat recovery and heat recirculation system. However, heat recirculation can be turned off in case you need to dry sunflower, soya bean or other fire-prone crops.
6) Grain is mixed at the middle of drying process thus allowing to obtain very even final moisture.

Operation principles
1 – Waterproof intake hopper. Can be executed in standard or extended version. Equipped with grain probes to control product loading.
2 – Product distribution mechanism allows even distribution of product over the drying table. It is also used to adjust product layer width.
3 – Possibility to load different products consequently without dryer emptying.
4 – Hot air temperature control sensor controls drying temperature.
5 – Product temperature control is used to secure even final moisture of grain. It is also use to control fire safety.
6 – Slatted louvred bed is suitable to dry both big seeds (for example corn, wheat etc) and small seeds (such as linseeds, rape, mustard etc).
7 – European gas/diesel burners with the highest fuel burning rate. Also suitable for alternative heat sources: solid fuel heat generator, steam or water heat exchanger etc.
8 – Heavy duty traction chain. The chain speed is adjusted using frequency inverter.
9 – Heat recovery system. After the cold air passes the grain in the cooling zone, the dry air becomes warm. Therefore, instead of throwing it to the atmosphere, we recirculate it. This allows to minimize fuel consumption and lower the total costs.
10 – Highly efficient hot air fans. The airflow for different crops can be fine tuned using frequency inverter. Centrifugal design of the fan is good to withstand high pressure drops. It is especially useful with alternative heat sources.
11 – Air pressure manometer helps to adjust airflow inside the grain dryer to maximize drying efficiency.
12 – Optimized design ensures an easy access to any part of the grain dryer.
13 – Cooling fan with silencer ensures a silent but an effective operation.
